The Guitar Mashing album took four years to make. During the time I was making this; I was playing the radio one weekend in Ibiza and taking some of the ideas that I was working on: particularly ‘Angel Dust’ and ‘Ibiza’s Secret Garden’ and using these as memorable motifs that I would play over the records.
Hence the term ‘Guitar Mashing’ which referred to mixing genres for example playing a famous rock riff over an electro house track.
This was the time when I just separated myself from so-called friends. After my first album, the criticism became unbearable. I worked day and night, but when it came to my time off, if I spent time with “friends”, they were so critical of everything that I done the entire week that I just hung out alone.
So this album is full of passion and concentration. I agonised over every note. It was recorded by hand in my home studio.
I didn’t use any digital editing or auto-tune I just played it over and over again until it sounded, and felt good.
Towards the end of the project, I decided to have it mastered to Abbey Road which initially I had to wait six months to get a session.
This was worth the wait as I got to meet Geoff Pesche for the first time and we really hit it off.
This album represents everything I wanted to create for my own mental health towards making myself feel happy, even though my dyslexia my struggles in life made me feel not so valued.
I hope you’ll enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed the ups and downs of the writing, perfoming and recording process.
I learned so much making this album. Much more than music but a shift in life and also a huge risk at a time when the economy collapsed.

REVIEW: GUITAR TECHNIQUES

Star Rating 4/5
It's not often we declare a guitar album to be outstanding, yet Tim Scott has come up with something that's both highly original and genuinely refreshing. Guitar Mashing is a smorgasbord of guitar styles and delivery and will appeal to a range of players. More importantly, it offers great entertainment value which is what will keep you coming back for more.
Guitar Smashing is a one-man show and much of the success of this album is down to Tim's production: funky, slick and fun. There are lots of great tracks here but we particularly liked The Wonderland Gang and the silky Pink & Chrome.

Although the phrase 'painting with sound' may come across as trite and unnecessarily pompous, in the UK guitarist Tim Scott's case, it's perfectly accurate. The interesting arrangements and tones that Scott has used here give the oft-tired guitar instrumental album formula a real shot in the arm, making sure that this album comes very highly recommended.

'Guitars' and 'pumping house' aren't terms that usually go hand in hand but on this, his second album, guitarist/session player/producer/tutor Tim Scott breaks boundaries by mashing his guitar mastery (think Vai and Satriani) with chilled Ibiza sounds. Perfect tonic for the winter blues.

HIS 2004 debut Bald On the Inside confirmed his prodigious chops to the guitar fraternity.
But Guitar Mashing sees Stockport's Tim Scott aiming squarely for the mainstream.
Taking his inspiration from the beats he encountered while working with DJ Judge Jules in Ibiza, he hitches his guitar-playing to club rhythms with big splashy, in-your-face arrangements.
It's ferociously funky, and Scott's premise is bang-on.
Many of the titans of instrumental guitar rock - even Joe Satriani and Steve Vai - tend towards a default mode of headlong rock rhythms.
At the other extreme, the dance music-makers, how often is a killer beat let down by a half-baked melodic idea? Scott's intricate, though likeable guitar melodies bridge that gap.

Masterfully Funky
Ultra funky Latin guitar rock from the multi-talented London Guitar Institute graduate, who handles guitars, bass, keyboards, drums, percussion, and vocals with equal aplomb. Tim's second album boasts powerful, inspired tracks throughout. He's prepared to tackle Bach (Prelude in C), straight ahead, six-string heroics (The Wonderland Gang) and upbeat grooves (The After Show) alike, displaying awesome skills in and complete mastery of each musical format. Jeff Beck's influence comes to the fore on Pink & Chrome, which finds Tim adding traces of tremolo bar king Hank Marvin for extra flavour, while the chart-bound Ibiza's Secret Garden has already received plaudits for its dancefloor rhythms and clean lead lines. Watch out for Tim's name on media credits for many years to come.

Guitar hero mashes his music on CD
A Hazel Grove guitarist is hoping to take the music world by storm with his new album. Guitar Mashing (Acer Records), the second album from Tim Scott, sees the Stockport musician and producer aim for the mainstream with a blend of his unique guitar playing skills hitched to club rhythms and chilled Ibiza sounds.
The Latin-influenced instrumental album mastered by Geoff Pesche (Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys) at London's famous Abbey Road studios is a ferociously funky affair and Scott believes it has huge potential.
He said: "The driving inspiration behind Guitar Mashing was to create a stunning collection of catchy yet distinctive instrumental guitar tunes that emanate today's all important 'X Factor' - instantly craving mass appeal."
The Multi-talented London Guitar Institute Graduate who claimed the prestigious Guitarist of the Year award in 2003, has been influenced on the album by time spent collaborating and playing alongside Radio 1 DJ Judge Jules in Ibiza.
Tim has been working on the album since 2005 writing, recording and producing ideas for the album which follows his 2004 debut 'Bald on the Inside'.
Guitar Mashing highlights include chart-topping bit Ibiza's Secret Garden and stunning post-modern version of JS Bach's classic Prelude in C.

Slick instrumentals from a talented guitar institute graduate who knows his way around the fretboard. Wonderful technique, though you may imagine you're listening to a collection of TV detective theme tunes.
